The exotic camel safaris, on the golden sand laid deserts of the beautiful Rajasthan,
the gorgeous forts and the worship of thousands of holy rats at Mata Kali temple
are some of the most interesting locations of Bikaner. The camel festival held
in the month of January is also an event worth witnessing if one wants to get
the actual color of the state.
Places to visit:
Junagarh fort was the creation of the army general Mughal, Raja Rai Singh, in
1593. The fort along with other amenities also has a courtyard along with a
balcony, it has kiosks and windows built giving it a perfect look, these are
obvious examples of the artisanship of that time. The craftsmen were highly
skilled and potential workers. The beautiful cutworks and dots on the red stones
and the marbles are fascinating and amazing. The various parts of the palace-the
Dewan-iI-khas, the Phool Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Badal Mahal and Anup Mahal-reflect
the glorious architecture of Bikaner as a city of the premier state of Rajasthan.
Maharaja Ganaga Singh built Lalgarh Palace, in the memory of his father. This
place is situated 3 km north of Bikaner city. The Rajasthan Tourism Development
Corporation is a part of this tourism venture and promotion program. Other parts
of the palace have been converted into a museum named as the Sadul Museum to
preserve the glory of the yesteryears of Rajasthan in general and Bikaner in
particular.
Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum is a museum of Rajasthan with some fabulous collection
of antiques and artilleries.
The Bhandasar Jain Temple, is a very well known temple that is dedicated to
the 23rd Jain tirthankara, is also a place worth visiting. The Camel Research
Farm is a farm that carries out breeding and training they also have camels-the
only fighting force and medium of transportation in the past and they still
follow it till date.

There is also a palace named as the Gajanir Palace and the wildlife sanctuary,
which is 32 km from the main city, it also takes you to the wilder side of life
and also gives you the chance to explore the adventurous tours found in the
state of Rajasthan particularly close to Bikaner. A large number of wild species
are available like the nilgai, wild boar, chinkara, etc. This place was the
summer resort of the former kings.
Kalibangan is a very famous archeological site containing remains of the pre-Harappan
and Harappan civilizations. This is a much-recommended site for all the visitors
who come here. The historians are very keen and want to gain an insight of India's
rich heritage.Besides these, there are several places of pilgrimage like Kolayatji,
Devikund, etc., which are famous among the people of religious minds.

lies around Kote Gate (King Edward Memorial Road) and Junagarh Fort that has
interesting bazaars.
Bikaner has a lot of popularity for the different items stitched out of camel
hide, which includes belts, wallets, bags, and jutties (footwear) etc. Also
check out the Khadi Emporium at Mahatma Gandhi Road for local blankets, rugs,
carpets, woodcarvings and lacquer work. Camel and sheep wool woven carpets and
woolen items can also be purchased from here.
