Wildlife Resorts
The name Mahua Kothi draws its inspiration from one of India's most beautiful
trees, the Madhuca Indica, or as it is commonly known, the Mahua or butter tree.
Pronounced ma-hoo-a, this tree with its fleshy off - white flowers plays a central
role in festivals and rituals, as the vitamins, minerals and sugar-rich flowers
are used in a number of ways. The twelve charming suites or Kutiyas (jungle
village huts) are newly built in the 40 acre grounds of the renowned tented
camp formerly known as Churhat Kothi. The original Kothi (homestead) comprising
the guest areas remains and has been extensively renovated, but the guest accommodation
is all brand new.
The Tiger Den Resort in Bandhavgarh is spread across the beautiful lush green,
and tranquil surroundings of the land of the White Tiger-Bandhavgarh National
Park. This wildlife resort in Bandhavgarh was conceptualized, designed and now
managed by professionals from the service industry. The Bandhavgarh wildlife
resort has 18 elegantly furnished luxury cottages. The balcony of the cottages
overlooks the marvelous and gigantic hills of the Vindhyanchal range.

For a walk on the wild side, look no further than the southern outskirts of
Bangalore city, where you can find everything from avifauna to panthers in the
Bannerghatta National Park. The 25,000 acre park is home to panthers, lions,
tigers and a large variety of birds. Indulge your sense of adventure with a
lion and tiger safari for a tête-à-tête with the big cats.
You could also wander through the Zoological Garden, with its canopy of shady
and sturdy trees, find a quiet resting spot beside a pond and watch waterfowl
frolic.

Meandering through the woody landscape of the forests of Karnataka is the Cauvery,

Doddamakali is situated 6 km upriver of Bheemeshwari. This is the remotest and

The Karnataka Forest Department has about 150 Elephants in various camps and
Dubare has been historically an important camp. The Elephants for the famous
Mysore Dassehra were trained at Dubare elephant camp. But presently after logging
operations have ceased, the Forest Department does not really know what to do
with all its Elephants! Elephants have been practically retired except for giving
some rides to odd tourists.
Galibore is 95 km from Bangalore, 16 km away from Bheemeshwari. It is set amidst
a wilderness of gigantic Terminalia arjuna trees, with the river flowing in
front, and the hills on either side of the river. Wild elephants often come
to the banks of the river to drink. There is a great barbecue corner around
which you can have beer while the meat gets grilled.
This is an unmatched combination of holiday at a hill-station and an opportunity
for exploration of the wildlife. The resort is located in the heart of the Biligiri
Rangaswamy Sanctuary (B R Hills) at K Gudi, just 90 km. from Mysore, on a hilly
terrain at an altitude of 3300 ft., (to 5000 ft.,) above sea level.
The camp is located on the banks of River Kali, which is the most famous perennial
river flowing through the Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, India. It is
close to two wildlife sanctuaries; the Anshi National Park and Dandeli Wildlife
Sanctuary. The whole district is a dense forest with around 70% area under forest
cover.

The Pench National Park lies among the southern valleys of the Satpura ranges
in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The major town located nearest
to the park is Nagpur, Which is 95 km away. The park covers an area of 292.85
sq km but if combined with the neighboring forest area of the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary
(118.31 sq km) and the buffer zone (346.73 sq km), they total up to an area
of 757.89 sq km to form what is known as the Pench Tiger Reserve. Recently in
1992, Pench has been included under the umbrella of "Project Tiger"
as the 19th Project Tiger Reserve.'
